Accessibility Statement
Our commitment to making this website usable by everyone, the standards we build to, and how to reach us if you meet a barrier so we can help and fix it.
Northstar Pulse wants everyone to be able to use our website, including people who use assistive technology. We are working to make northstarpulse.com accessible and to keep improving it over time.
01Our commitment
We treat accessibility as part of good design, not an afterthought. We aim to give all visitors an experience that is perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust, and we consider the goals of the Accessible Canada Act and Manitoba's accessibility legislation in how we build and maintain the Site.
02Conformance standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the standard widely referenced by Canadian and international accessibility law. Conformance can vary across pages, and we treat any gap as something to fix.
03Measures we take
- We design with sufficient color contrast on a dark theme and avoid relying on color alone to carry meaning.
- We use semantic HTML, headings, and landmarks so screen readers can navigate the page.
- We provide a "skip to content" link and visible keyboard focus so the Site can be used without a mouse.
- We label interactive controls, including the navigation menu and the frequently asked questions, with appropriate roles and states.
- We respect the "reduce motion" setting so animations are minimized for people who prefer that.
- We test with keyboard navigation and review new pages for accessibility before publishing.
04Accessibility features you can use
You can navigate the Site with a keyboard using the Tab and Shift plus Tab keys, activate links and buttons with Enter or Space, and use the skip link to jump past the navigation. You can also increase text size and zoom in your browser, and enable your operating system's reduce-motion setting, which the Site honors.
05Known limitations
Despite our efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible. Decorative animations and graphics are marked to be ignored by assistive technology, but there may be areas we have not caught. If you find a barrier, please tell us so we can prioritize a fix.
06Third-party content
Some parts of the experience may rely on third-party services, such as fonts, scheduling, or embedded tools. We do not fully control the accessibility of third-party content, but we choose providers with accessibility in mind and will look for alternatives where a serious barrier exists.
07Feedback and requesting assistance
If you have trouble using any part of the Site, or you need information in a different format, contact us and we will help and work to resolve the issue. Please tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology or browser you were using, so we can reproduce and fix the problem quickly.
